Somsubhra Roy
Somsubhra Roy founded Photorbit in Kolkata with one idea: gifting should be personal, well-crafted, and built to last. What started as a small photo studio and gift shop in Sonarpur has grown, under his direction, into an ISO 9001:2015 certified brand spanning gifting, photography and laser engraving — serving customers across India.
Every product that leaves our workshop should carry a piece of the story behind it — not just a print or an engraving, but something worth keeping.
Somsubhra Roy’s guiding principle for Photorbit
From a Sonarpur studio to a pan-India brand
The Beginning
A small photo studio and gift shop in Sonarpur
Somsubhra Roy started Photorbit as a small photo studio and gift shop in Sonarpur, Kolkata, with a simple conviction: gifting should feel personal, not generic — and every memory deserves to be printed, framed or engraved properly rather than left on a phone.
Expansion
Building Photorbit Capture
As demand grew beyond the studio's four walls, he launched Photorbit Capture — a full photography and videography division covering weddings, corporate events and product shoots — so the same eye for a meaningful photo could be brought to a client's own big day.
Innovation
Founding Photorbit Laser
He then set up Photorbit Laser, a precision engraving and cutting studio, to make bespoke wooden mementos, crystal trophies and acrylic plaques possible in-house rather than outsourced — keeping quality control over every product that leaves the workshop.
Certification
Taking Photorbit to ISO 9001:2015
Under his direction, Photorbit earned ISO 9001:2015 certification — a formal commitment to consistent quality standards across manufacturing and customer service, not just a one-time promise made at launch.
Today
Pan-India, online, and still growing
Today he leads Photorbit's move online and pan-India — over 500 products and 10,000+ customers served — while keeping the same standard he started with: every gift should be worth keeping.
The principles behind every Photorbit product
Personal over generic
His starting belief, unchanged since the Sonarpur studio: a gift means more when it's made for one specific person, not pulled off a shelf.
Craftsmanship you can hold onto
From laser-engraved mementos to printed photo frames, his focus has always been on a finish that still looks good years later, not just on delivery day.
Quality as a standard, not a slogan
Photorbit's ISO 9001:2015 certification reflects his own insistence that consistent quality be a documented, repeatable process across the whole business — not a one-off effort.
